Working in Indonesia

Indonesia is an archipelago rather than one island, with major opportunities in Jakarta, Bali, Java, Lombok, and other tourism centers. Hospitality jobs are widely available in hotels, resorts, restaurants, wellness properties, and event venues, while Jakarta also offers careers in business, finance, technology, and retail. The culture is welcoming and community-oriented, with diverse regional traditions, predominantly Muslim customs, and strong respect for family and hierarchy. Lifestyle costs vary: Jakarta is busy and metropolitan, Bali is more relaxed but increasingly expensive, and smaller islands offer a quieter pace. Foreign workers normally need employer sponsorship, a work permit, and the appropriate limited-stay visa; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, insurance, taxation, relocation support, and visa responsibility before accepting an offer.
