Malaysia offers technology opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor and Cyberjaya, with semiconductor and electronics roles particularly strong in Penang and the northern industrial corridor. Kuala Lumpur provides the broadest professional network, international schools, transport links and urban conveniences, while Penang offers a relaxed island lifestyle, strong engineering communities, beaches and a well-established electronics sector. Langkawi is quieter and more tourism-focused, and Sabah and Sarawak provide distinctive nature, cultures and slower-paced living. Malaysian workplace culture is generally polite, relationship-oriented and multicultural, with English widely used in professional settings. Living costs are moderate compared with many major Asian cities, though central Kuala Lumpur and popular parts of Penang are more expensive. Foreign employees normally require an employer-sponsored Employment Pass; the company typically handles the application. Relocating workers should arrange certified documents, accommodation, healthcare coverage and a local bank account.
