About the employer

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and related properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The group is known for personalised service, high operating standards and its Asian-inspired approach to hospitality. In Malaysia, Shangri-La operates several well-established properties, including Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa and Golden Sands Resort in Penang. These resorts serve leisure travellers, families, groups and business guests, with extensive accommodation, dining, recreation and event facilities. Shangri-La places emphasis on guest satisfaction, employee development, sustainability and operational excellence. A senior engineering leader supporting two major resorts would be responsible for maintaining reliable facilities while protecting the guest experience, employee safety and long-term value of the properties.

Working in Malaysia

Penang Island is a lively Malaysian destination combining beaches, heritage districts, food culture and a growing service economy. Job opportunities are strongest in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, healthcare, education, technology and property services; senior engineering roles are particularly relevant to resorts and commercial developments. George Town offers historic architecture, museums, cafés and famous street food, while Batu Ferringhi is centred on beach resorts and a more relaxed lifestyle. English is widely used in hospitality, and the multicultural community includes Malay, Chinese, Indian and international residents. Living costs are generally lower than Kuala Lumpur, although accommodation near the beach can be expensive. Foreign hires normally need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, with approval and immigration formalities completed before starting work. Candidates should confirm passport, qualification, medical and dependent requirements with Shangri-La and Malaysian authorities.
