The Corporate Social Sustainability (CSR) Executive is expected to support Shangri-La’s sustainability, community engagement and corporate responsibility programmes in Malaysia. Responsibilities may include coordinating environmental initiatives, employee volunteering, community partnerships, sustainability campaigns, reporting, documentation and stakeholder communication. Candidates should have a diploma or degree in sustainability, corporate communications, public relations, business, hospitality or a related field, together with strong writing, organisation and project coordination skills. Experience in CSR, ESG, sustainability, community development or hotel operations is advantageous. The role requires initiative, attention to detail, good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with internal departments, external organisations and local communities. As this is a contract position, flexibility, reliability and the ability to deliver projects within deadlines will be important.
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, with hotels and resorts across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The group is known for personalised service, premium accommodation, dining, wellness facilities and distinctive resort experiences. Shangri-La properties in Malaysia serve business and leisure travellers in destinations such as Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kota Kinabalu and other major tourism locations. The company places emphasis on guest satisfaction, employee development, community engagement and responsible hospitality. Its sustainability and corporate social responsibility activities commonly cover environmental protection, local community support, charitable partnerships, responsible resource use and employee participation. Working for Shangri-La can provide experience in an international hotel environment, with opportunities to collaborate across operations, marketing, human resources and community-focused programmes.
Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hospitality, tourism, sustainability, business services and technology. Kuala Lumpur is the main commercial centre, while Penang combines heritage, manufacturing and a growing professional community. Langkawi and Sabah provide resort, marine tourism and conservation-related work, although island roles may be more seasonal and accommodation costs can vary. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in workplaces. Lifestyle ranges from busy city living to relaxed coastal communities, with warm weather, diverse food and generally affordable daily expenses. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored employment pass, and the hiring company usually manages the application and approval process. Candidates should confirm contract terms, accommodation, insurance, tax, medical requirements and relocation support before accepting an offer. Island locations may involve fewer transport links and services, so planning housing and travel is advisable.
