The Senior Sales Manager (MICE) is responsible for developing business from meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions, increasing room nights and event revenue, and maintaining strong relationships with corporate clients, agencies and event organisers. Candidates typically need a degree or diploma in hospitality, business or a related field, along with several years of hotel sales experience and proven MICE results. Strong knowledge of the Indonesian market, negotiation skills, presentation ability and an established business network are valuable. The role requires excellent English; Indonesian and other languages may be advantageous. The successful candidate is expected to meet revenue targets, prepare proposals, manage key accounts, coordinate with operations and deliver polished client experiences while representing Shangri-La professionally.

About the employer

Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Singapore and recognised for Asian-inspired service, elegant hotels and resorts, and a strong emphasis on genuine care. The group operates properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international destinations, serving leisure travellers, corporate guests and major events. Its hotels commonly include restaurants, meeting facilities, wellness services and extensive business-travel support. Shangri-La places importance on warm hospitality, professional development, teamwork and creating memorable guest experiences. In Indonesia, its commercial teams work with corporations, government organisations, travel agencies and event planners to attract conferences, incentives and social functions. A Senior Sales Manager in the MICE segment would join a structured international brand while working closely with local market partners and hotel operations.

Working in Indonesia

Indonesia offers varied opportunities across hotel sales, tourism, events and hospitality, especially in Jakarta on Java, Bali, Batam, Lombok and major resort islands. Bali is popular with expatriates because of its international community, beaches and lifestyle, while Jakarta provides a larger corporate and MICE market with faster-paced urban living. Indonesian culture values politeness, hospitality, family relationships and respect for hierarchy; learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly useful. Living costs vary considerably, with Bali resort areas often more expensive than secondary cities. Foreign employees generally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work visa or stay permit; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers usually assist with immigration, but requirements can change, so confirm details with the company and Indonesian authorities. Consider housing, health insurance, transport, climate and local registration before relocating.
