About the employer

Shangri-La Group is a luxury hospitality company founded in Hong Kong and recognised for its hotels, resorts and serviced residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Its portfolio includes the Shangri-La, Kerry, JEN and Traders brands. The group is known for personalised service, Asian-inspired hospitality and strong emphasis on guest comfort, operational standards and colleague development. In Hong Kong, Shangri-La properties serve business and leisure travellers and typically operate large, complex facilities requiring high standards of engineering, security, fire protection and occupational safety. Working for the group can provide exposure to international hotel operations, structured procedures and cross-functional collaboration. Benefits and remuneration vary by property, seniority and local employment terms.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, property management, finance, technology, retail, aviation and professional services. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences, and English is widely used in business, although Cantonese is valuable for daily life. The lifestyle is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, dense urban neighbourhoods, hiking trails, beaches and extensive dining. Housing is expensive, especially on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon, so employer accommodation or a housing allowance can be important. Foreign professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer, usually under the General Employment Policy, and must meet qualification and salary requirements. Dependants may normally apply for dependant visas. New arrivals should arrange a work permit before starting employment, secure temporary accommodation, obtain an Octopus card and budget carefully for rent, healthcare and schooling if relocating with family.
