Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers varied hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and other coastal destinations. Island resorts commonly recruit in food and beverage, housekeeping, culinary work, front office, guest activities, engineering and administration, with stronger seasonal demand during school holidays and peak travel periods. Malaysian culture combines Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, reflected in its food, festivals and languages. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed beach communities, although island locations can be more seasonal and expensive for imported goods. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass or other appropriate work authorisation before starting work; requirements depend on nationality, salary and role. Employers usually guide the application. Relocating candidates should confirm accommodation, transport, medical cover, contract terms and whether meals or staff housing are provided. Popular island destinations include Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, Perhentian and parts of Sabah.
