Working in Indonesia

Indonesia offers opportunities across luxury hotels, resorts, restaurants, villas, cruises, and tourism businesses, especially in Bali, Jakarta, Lombok, Batam, and destinations such as Komodo and Raja Ampat. Bali is the most established international hospitality market, with a relaxed lifestyle, strong expatriate communities, beaches, wellness activities, and a rich Hindu culture. Local customs value politeness, modest dress at religious sites, family, and community participation. Living costs vary considerably; Bali’s popular areas can be expensive, while many employers provide accommodation, meals, transport, medical cover, or service charge. Foreign nationals generally require an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate Indonesian work visa; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Relocation involves document legalization, medical checks, and immigration processing. Indonesia has a tropical climate, reliable amenities in major centers, and more limited healthcare and transport infrastructure in remote islands.
