Working in Indonesia

Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, Batam and other resort destinations. Bali is especially popular for hotel, restaurant, wellness and tourism careers, while Jakarta and Surabaya provide broader corporate and city-hotel employment. Island life can be relaxed and community-oriented, with rich traditions, religious ceremonies, varied food and strong local culture. Costs are generally manageable, although popular parts of Bali can be expensive and traffic is a consideration. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and the appropriate work-limited-stay visa; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers usually guide the immigration process, documentation and medical requirements. Candidates should confirm salary, service charge, accommodation, meals, insurance, transport, contract duration and leave before relocating. Learning basic Indonesian is valuable, while English is commonly used in international hotels. Climate is tropical, with wet and dry seasons.
