About the employer

Shangri-La Group is a leading luxury hospitality company founded in Hong Kong, with hotels, resorts and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other destinations. Its portfolio includes the Shangri-La, Kerry, JEN and Traders brands. Shangri-La is known for attentive service, welcoming hospitality and strong connections with the local communities in which its properties operate. In Hong Kong, the group has established luxury hotels serving business travellers, tourists, families and events. Employees generally work in an international environment with structured hotel operations, training opportunities and access to staff benefits, depending on the property and employment contract. A Public Area Attendant supports the guest experience by ensuring that the hotel’s shared spaces consistently meet the company’s cleanliness, presentation and safety standards.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers many opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology and professional services. Hospitality roles are concentrated in areas such as Central, Tsim Sha Tsui, Admiralty, Causeway Bay, Lantau and the airport. The culture is international but strongly influenced by Cantonese traditions, with excellent food, efficient public transport and a fast-paced working style. Housing is expensive, so many employees share flats or live in districts outside the centre; wages, staff accommodation and meal benefits should be checked carefully. Hong Kong has a subtropical climate, busy urban neighbourhoods, hiking trails, beaches and nearby islands for leisure. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work visa and must not begin employment before approval. Applicants should confirm eligibility, contract terms, medical requirements and visa support with Shangri-La. Cantonese is valuable, while English is widely used in hotels.
