The Senior Corporate Counsel will provide legal advice to Shangri-La Group on corporate, commercial, governance, regulatory and transactional matters. Requirements typically include a Hong Kong legal qualification or equivalent common-law qualification, substantial experience in an international law firm or in-house legal department, and strong knowledge of commercial contracts, corporate law, compliance and risk management. The successful candidate should communicate clearly with senior stakeholders, manage external counsel effectively, exercise sound judgment and handle sensitive matters with discretion. Experience in hospitality, real estate, luxury brands or multinational organisations would be advantageous. Fluency in English is essential; Cantonese or Mandarin may be preferred.
Shangri-La Group is a Hong Kong-based luxury hospitality company operating hotels, resorts and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and other international markets. Established in 1971, the group is recognised for its Shangri-La, Kerry Hotels, JEN by Shangri-La and Traders Hotels brands. Its portfolio includes luxury accommodation, restaurants, spas, meeting facilities and serviced residences. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on Asian hospitality, personalised service, employee development and responsible business practices. The corporate legal team supports the group’s global operations, including hotel management agreements, property matters, commercial contracts, corporate governance, compliance, disputes and strategic transactions. Working for the group can offer exposure to a multinational hospitality organisation, cross-border projects and interaction with senior business leaders and operating teams.
Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in finance, hospitality, tourism, property, technology, professional services and multinational corporate functions, including in-house legal work. The city combines a fast-paced international business environment with Cantonese traditions, British-influenced institutions and a highly diverse expatriate community. Lifestyle options range from dense urban neighbourhoods, restaurants and cultural venues to hiking trails, beaches and outlying islands. Housing is expensive, although employers may provide allowances or relocation support. Overseas professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong employer; applications usually require a confirmed job, relevant qualifications and proof that the role cannot readily be filled locally. Dependants may normally accompany approved visa holders. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, local banking, insurance and tax registration, and understand that Cantonese is valuable for daily life while English is widely used in business and government.
