Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, events, construction, aviation, technology and retail. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a large international community; modest dress, respect for religion and awareness of local customs are important. Lifestyle options range from modern city living and beaches to desert excursions, shopping and outdoor activities, although summers are extremely hot. Most expatriate employees require employer-sponsored residence and work visas. Employers usually arrange the work permit, medical checks, Emirates ID and residency process, while requirements vary by contract and nationality. Relocating candidates should confirm accommodation, transport, insurance, flights, gratuity and visa sponsorship before accepting an offer. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are well connected, but living costs can be high, especially for housing. English is widely used in workplaces, while Arabic is the official language.
