Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city with strong opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, events, tourism, finance, technology and healthcare. English is widely used at work, while the multicultural population includes Chinese, Malay, Indian and many expatriate communities. Life is safe, efficient and convenient, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare, international schools and extensive shopping and dining. The climate is hot, humid and tropical throughout the year, with frequent rain. Accommodation can be expensive, especially near central districts, so many employees live farther from Orchard Road and commute by MRT. Foreign professionals generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; experienced managers may qualify for an Employment Pass, subject to prevailing salary and eligibility requirements. Applicants should secure the pass before starting work and arrange housing, insurance and tax matters with employer guidance. Singapore offers a fast-paced lifestyle and excellent regional travel access.
