About the employer

Shangri-La is a Hong Kong-founded luxury hospitality group established in 1971. It operates hotels, resorts and related properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international destinations. The group is known for personalised service, comfortable surroundings and its welcoming approach to guests, reflected in the brand promise of Shangri-La hospitality. Its Hong Kong properties serve business travellers, leisure guests, dining customers and events, supported by teams in guest services, food and beverage, housekeeping, engineering and administration. Employees typically work in a multicultural environment with structured service standards, training opportunities and clear expectations around professionalism, courtesy and attention to detail.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, logistics, technology and tourism, with hospitality roles concentrated around Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the airport. The culture is fast-paced and international, combining Cantonese traditions, Chinese festivals and global influences. Lifestyle options range from excellent public transport, shopping and nightlife to hiking, beaches and nearby islands. Rent can be high, especially in central districts, but public transport is reliable and affordable. Overseas applicants normally need an employment visa sponsored by an employer, with proof of qualifications and a genuine job offer; work cannot begin before approval. Relocating staff should budget for housing deposits, medical cover and daily expenses, and learn basic Cantonese phrases for customer-facing work.
