The Housekeeping Coordinator supports the department by coordinating room-status updates, guest requests, maintenance follow-ups, lost-and-found matters, staff communication and daily administrative records. Candidates should have previous hotel, housekeeping or administrative experience, strong organisation and attention to detail, and the ability to manage several requests efficiently. Good spoken and written English is generally required; Cantonese and knowledge of hotel systems such as Opera are advantageous. The role requires a service-focused attitude, professional telephone manner, teamwork and flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays. The successful candidate is expected to communicate clearly with guests and colleagues, protect confidentiality, respond promptly and maintain Shangri-La’s high standards of cleanliness and hospitality.
Shangri-La Group is a major luxury hospitality company headquartered in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and other international markets. The group is known for refined service, strong attention to guest experience and its distinctive Asian-inspired hospitality culture. Its Hong Kong properties, including Kowloon Shangri-La and Island Shangri-La, serve business and leisure travellers with accommodation, restaurants, event facilities, wellness services and extensive guest support operations. Employees typically work in a multicultural environment with structured hotel procedures, training opportunities and close coordination between departments. Housekeeping teams are central to the company’s reputation, ensuring rooms and public areas meet demanding standards while responding thoughtfully to guest needs.
Hong Kong is a compact, highly connected destination combining dense urban districts, harbour views, hiking trails and outlying islands. Hospitality offers opportunities in hotels, restaurants, events, tourism, retail and corporate services, with strong demand for candidates who speak English and Cantonese; Mandarin is also useful. The culture blends Chinese traditions with international influences, and the lifestyle is fast-paced, convenient and diverse. Public transport is excellent, although housing is expensive and apartments are usually small. Employers normally sponsor an employment visa, with approval depending on a confirmed job, suitable qualifications or experience, and proof that the role cannot readily be filled locally. Candidates should not begin work before receiving approval. Relocating workers should budget for deposits, insurance, transport and daily expenses, and check whether staff accommodation, meals or relocation support are included in the offer.
