Shangri-La is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel specialising in disputes to provide practical legal advice across the group’s hospitality operations. The role is expected to manage and coordinate commercial disputes, litigation, arbitration, investigations and external counsel, while advising senior stakeholders on legal risks and settlement strategy. Candidates should be qualified lawyers with substantial post-qualification experience, ideally gained in a leading law firm and/or multinational in-house environment. Strong experience in commercial disputes, contract interpretation and cross-border matters is important. Excellent written and spoken English is required; Chinese language skills and knowledge of Asian jurisdictions would be advantageous. The successful candidate should demonstrate sound judgment, commercial awareness, strong communication skills, discretion and the ability to manage several complex matters independently.
Shangri-La Group is a major luxury hospitality company headquartered in Hong Kong. Founded in 1971, it operates hotels, resorts and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets under brands including Shangri-La, Kerry Hotels, JEN and Traders. The group is known for refined service, strong Asian hospitality values and a diverse portfolio covering city hotels, beach resorts and destination properties. Its corporate teams support a geographically spread business involving hotel management, development, real estate, procurement, technology and commercial partnerships. Working for Shangri-La can provide exposure to cross-border operations, complex contractual arrangements and a broad range of legal and business stakeholders. The company generally places emphasis on integrity, professionalism, guest experience, collaboration and long-term relationships with owners, partners and employees.
Hong Kong is a compact, international city with a strong finance, tourism, retail, technology and professional-services economy. Legal professionals can find opportunities in multinational companies, law firms, hospitality groups, banks and property businesses, particularly in commercial, regulatory, disputes and compliance work. The culture combines Cantonese traditions with global influences, and English is widely used in business. Life is fast-paced, highly connected and convenient, with excellent public transport, extensive dining, vibrant neighbourhoods and easy access to beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Housing can be expensive, especially in central areas, so many residents choose districts such as Kowloon, the New Territories or Hong Kong Island suburbs. Foreign professionals normally require an employment visa sponsored by their employer, with approval depending on qualifications, experience and the role. Employers commonly assist with visa applications and relocation, although candidates should confirm tax, housing, healthcare and dependent arrangements before accepting an offer.
