Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a compact international business hub comprising Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, with many outlying islands nearby. It offers strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, technology, law, property, retail and professional services, particularly for candidates with international experience. The culture blends Cantonese traditions, Chinese festivals and food with global business practices; English is widely used in professional settings, while Cantonese is valuable for daily life. The lifestyle is energetic, safe and convenient, with excellent public transport, dense urban amenities, hiking, beaches and diverse dining. Overseas employees generally need an appropriate employment visa sponsored by their employer before starting work. Employers commonly assist with applications, but applicants must provide qualifications and employment documents. Housing can be expensive, so salary, accommodation support, tax and medical benefits should be reviewed carefully. Hong Kong is well connected internationally and offers a practical base for regional travel.
