Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Asia and recognised internationally for its hotels, resorts and distinctive service culture. The group operates properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other markets, offering accommodation, restaurants, meeting facilities and wellness experiences. Shangri-La Singapore is a major luxury hotel set within landscaped grounds near Orchard Road, with extensive rooms, dining venues, event facilities and leisure amenities. The company places strong emphasis on warm Asian hospitality, guest satisfaction, professional standards and employee development. Culinary employees may work across multiple restaurants, banqueting operations and hotel outlets, gaining experience in international cuisines and large-scale hospitality service. Benefits and working conditions vary by position, but may include staff meals, uniform provision, training, medical coverage and opportunities for internal career progression.
Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, finance, technology and healthcare. Its culture combines Chinese, Malay, Indian and Western influences, reflected in its festivals, neighbourhoods and famous hawker food. The lifestyle is safe, efficient and urban, with excellent public transport, shopping, beaches, parks and year-round warm, humid weather. Housing can be expensive, particularly near central districts, so many employees choose shared accommodation or areas connected by the MRT. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; hospitality professionals may qualify for an S Pass or, depending on salary and qualifications, an Employment Pass, subject to current government requirements. Applicants should confirm pass eligibility, medical requirements and employment conditions with Shangri-La before relocating. English is widely used in workplaces, although additional languages are valuable in guest-facing roles.
