The Executive Chef leads all culinary operations, including restaurants, banquets, room service, menu development, food quality, kitchen hygiene, budgeting and team performance. Candidates should have substantial experience as an Executive Chef or senior culinary leader in a luxury hotel or resort, strong knowledge of international and local Indonesian cuisine, and excellent cost-control, HACCP and leadership skills. The role expects creativity, commercial awareness, consistency, staff development and the ability to maintain Shangri-La service standards in a fast-paced multicultural environment. A culinary qualification and strong English communication are normally required; knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia is advantageous.
Shangri-La Group is a major luxury hospitality company founded in Hong2 Kong and known for hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and other international markets. Its properties are recognized for personalized Asian-inspired hospitality, high service standards, elegant facilities and extensive food and beverage operations. Shangri-La employs colleagues from many nationalities and emphasizes guest care, integrity, teamwork and professional development. Depending on the property, employees may receive accommodation, meals, transport, medical coverage, service charge and other benefits. An Executive Chef joining Shangri-La would typically work with a large culinary brigade and collaborate closely with hotel leadership, restaurant managers, sales teams and suppliers to deliver consistent quality while achieving financial and operational targets.
Indonesia is an archipelago offering hospitality opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, Batam, Sumatra and resort islands such as the Riau and Gili islands. Luxury hotels and resorts regularly recruit chefs, restaurant leaders, housekeeping staff, engineers and wellness professionals. Bali provides an international tourism scene, diverse dining, beaches and a relatively large expatriate community, while Jakarta and Java offer stronger corporate and urban career networks. Local culture values respect, community, modesty and religious awareness; workplace customs vary by island. Employers normally arrange the appropriate work permit and limited-stay visa, commonly an E-series work visa or related permit, before employment begins. Candidates should not work on a tourist visa. Relocation packages may include housing, meals, flights and insurance, but terms must be confirmed in writing. Costs and lifestyle vary considerably by destination.
