Working in Indonesia

Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities across Java, Bali, Lombok, Batam, and other resort islands. Jakarta, on Java, has strong demand for luxury hotel, business-travel, events, and food-and-beverage professionals, while Bali provides extensive resort, wellness, and guest-relations roles. Bali and Lombok offer a relaxed tropical lifestyle, but living costs and traffic can be significant in popular areas. Indonesian culture values respect, community, modesty, and friendly service; learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly useful. Foreign workers normally need employer sponsorship and an approved work permit and stay visa, with requirements changing by nationality and role. Do not work on a tourist visa. Employers may assist with immigration, accommodation, flights, insurance, or relocation, but this must be confirmed in writing. Research housing, healthcare, transport, taxation, and local regulations before moving.
