Familiarity with access control, CCTV monitoring, incident reporting, fire and life-safety procedures, and Hong Kong security regulations is advantageous. Candidates are expected to lead security officers professionally, patrol assigned areas, investigate incidents, support emergency responses, enforce hotel policies, and provide courteous service to guests. Shift work, including nights, weekends and public holidays, is normally required. A valid Hong Kong security personnel permit or the ability to obtain the required licence may also be expected.
Shangri-La Group is a major Asia-based luxury hospitality company operating hotels, resorts and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Founded in 1971, the group is known for refined service, comfortable accommodation and its Asian-inspired tradition of hospitality. Shangri-La Hong Kong is a luxury hotel in the Admiralty district, offering guest rooms, restaurants, meeting facilities and high-end services for leisure and business travellers. The company employs colleagues across hotel operations, including front office, food and beverage, housekeeping, engineering, finance and security. Shangri-La places emphasis on guest care, professional standards, teamwork, training and operational safety. Benefits and remuneration vary by role and employment terms, but hotel employees may receive staff meals, uniforms, medical coverage, training and opportunities for internal career development.
Hong Kong is a compact international city with a fast-moving lifestyle, excellent public transport and strong employment opportunities in hospitality, finance, retail, aviation, technology and professional services. Although best known for its urban areas, it also includes islands, beaches, country parks and hiking trails. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences; courtesy, efficiency and respect for hierarchy are valued in the workplace. Living costs are high, particularly rent, while public transport is reliable and widely used. English is common in hotels and multinational businesses, though Cantonese is useful for daily life and local guest relations. Overseas hires generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer before starting work. Applicants must meet immigration requirements and demonstrate relevant qualifications or experience. Relocation planning should include accommodation, deposits, healthcare, banking, transport and possible schooling costs. Employment conditions and visa rules should be confirmed with Shangri-La and Hong Kong Immigration Department.
