About the employer

Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and known for its hotels, resorts, and distinctive Asian-inspired service. The group operates properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other international markets. Shangri-La hotels typically emphasize warm hospitality, attentive personal service, premium accommodation, dining, wellness, and family-friendly facilities. Employees work in multicultural teams and generally receive structured operational training, service standards, and opportunities to build careers across different departments and destinations. Benefits vary by property but may include staff meals, uniforms, medical coverage, hotel discounts, incentive schemes, and accommodation support for eligible roles. The Hong Kong property offers an international hotel environment where safety, guest satisfaction, professionalism, and consistent service are important parts of daily operations.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, technology, logistics, education, and tourism. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences, and workplaces are generally fast-paced, professional, and multilingual. Life is convenient, with efficient public transport, excellent healthcare, dense urban neighborhoods, mountains, beaches, and extensive dining and entertainment options. Rent can be high, especially on Hong Kong Island and in central Kowloon, so many workers live in the New Territories or share accommodation. Foreign employees normally need an employment visa arranged through an approved employer, while dependants require the appropriate dependant visa. Applicants should secure a written offer, confirm accommodation and benefits, and prepare qualifications, references, passport documents, and medical or background checks where required. Cantonese is valuable locally, although English is widely used in international hotels.
