Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, aviation, finance, technology, healthcare and retail. Its culture combines Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its festivals, languages and famous hawker food. Life is safe, efficient and convenient, with excellent public transport, healthcare and urban amenities, although housing and everyday expenses can be high. Most foreign employees require a work pass arranged by their employer; eligibility depends on qualifications, salary and the role, with the Employment Pass and S Pass commonly used. Relocating workers should budget for accommodation, transport, insurance and deposits, and verify pass conditions before moving. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain. Respect for local laws, cleanliness and punctuality is important in both work and daily life.
