The group promotes its hospitality values through guest-focused service, teamwork, professional development and cultural awareness. Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism and supporting business services, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other coastal destinations. Island life in Langkawi or Penang combines beaches, multicultural communities, seafood, markets and a relaxed outdoor lifestyle, while larger cities provide more transport, shopping and career options. Malay, Chinese and Indian traditions influence food, festivals and everyday culture, and English is widely used in hospitality. Living costs vary, with resort islands sometimes costing more for accommodation and imported goods. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass or another approved work permit before starting work; requirements depend on nationality, salary and role. Employers generally handle much of the application process. Candidates should confirm accommodation, transport, insurance, tax, contract terms and visa sponsorship directly with Shangri-La before relocating.
