Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest hospitality job markets. Opportunities are available in hotels, resorts, restaurants, catering, events, tourism and luxury retail, with career progression often supported by employer training. The culture combines Islamic traditions, Emirati hospitality and a highly international population. Respectful dress, punctuality and awareness of local customs are important, especially during Ramadan. Lifestyle options range from beaches, desert activities and shopping to museums, nightlife and outdoor attractions; living costs are highest in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Most overseas employees require an employer-sponsored residence visa and work permit, with the employer usually arranging medical testing, Emirates ID processing and residency formalities. UAE nationals applying through Emiratization programs have different employment and support arrangements. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, transport, insurance, annual leave and relocation benefits before accepting an offer.
