The Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning and servicing guest rooms, bathrooms, corridors, and other assigned areas to Shangri-La’s standards. Duties include making beds, replacing linens and amenities, replenishing supplies, reporting maintenance issues, and respecting guest privacy and hotel security procedures. Candidates should be physically fit, detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable working on their feet. Previous hotel housekeeping experience is preferred, although training may be provided. Good customer-service skills, a positive attitude, teamwork, and the ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays are expected. Basic English or Cantonese communication skills may be helpful in Hong Kong.
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and known for Asian-inspired warmth, attentive service, and high-quality accommodation. The group operates hotels, resorts, and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other international destinations. Its Hong Kong properties serve business travellers, tourists, families, and events guests, with departments ranging from rooms and food and beverage to wellness and administration. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on guest satisfaction, professional presentation, teamwork, and personalized service. Employees may receive structured training, staff meals, medical coverage, discounts, and opportunities to build an international hospitality career, depending on the property and employment terms. Room attendants are an important part of the guest experience because cleanliness, comfort, and attention to detail directly influence hotel reviews and repeat business.
Hong Kong offers many opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, logistics, technology, healthcare, and education. Hospitality jobs are concentrated on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and Lantau, including major hotel areas such as Central, Admiralty, Tsim Sha Tsui, and the airport district. The city has a fast-paced, multicultural lifestyle, excellent public transport, diverse food, hiking trails, beaches, and lively shopping and entertainment. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in hotels and professional workplaces. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored employment visa and must meet qualification and salary requirements; working before approval is not permitted. Employers commonly assist with documentation, but applicants should confirm visa, accommodation, medical, and contract details before relocating. Rent can be high, so budgeting and shared accommodation are often necessary.
