Working in Philippines

The Philippines is an archipelago with strong employment opportunities in hospitality, engineering, tourism, information technology, healthcare and business-process services. Major hotel opportunities are concentrated in Metro Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, Davao and other resort destinations. Filipino culture is generally warm, family-oriented and service-minded, with English widely used in workplaces. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living to relaxed coastal communities; living costs are usually lower outside Manila, although island locations can have higher transport and imported-goods costs. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate visa, with documentation handled through Philippine authorities. Relocating candidates should confirm accommodation, medical coverage, transport, taxes and contract terms before arrival. The country has a tropical climate, so preparation for heat, humidity and seasonal typhoons is important.
