The Corporate Social Sustainability (CSR) Executive supports Shangri-La’s environmental, community and social responsibility programmes in Malaysia. Typical requirements include a diploma or degree in sustainability, communications, public relations, business or a related discipline, along with experience coordinating projects, events, partnerships or community initiatives. Strong written and verbal communication, organisation, reporting, stakeholder management and presentation skills are expected. The successful candidate should be proactive, socially aware and comfortable working with hotel departments, local communities, charities, suppliers and corporate partners. Familiarity with sustainability reporting, ESG principles, waste reduction, energy conservation and workplace volunteering would be advantageous. The role may also involve preparing campaigns, tracking impact, organising activities and promoting the company’s sustainability commitments.
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The company is known for its Asian-inspired hospitality, personalised service and high-end accommodation, dining, wellness and conference facilities. Its Malaysian properties serve leisure travellers, business guests, families and events markets, with locations that may include Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Sabah and other major destinations. Shangri-La places emphasis on guest experience, employee development, community engagement and responsible business practices. A Corporate Social Sustainability Executive would typically help connect these commitments with practical hotel initiatives, including environmental conservation, charitable partnerships, employee volunteering, local community support and sustainability awareness. The role offers exposure to hospitality operations, communications and stakeholder engagement within an established international brand.
Malaysia offers opportunities in hospitality, tourism, sustainability, events, retail, technology and business services. Island and coastal destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, Sabah’s islands and the Perhentian or Redang areas provide resort, marine conservation and guest-service jobs, while Kuala Lumpur has broader corporate opportunities. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences; English is widely used in business and tourism. Lifestyle costs are generally moderate, although accommodation in resort areas can be seasonal and expensive. Foreign nationals normally need employer sponsorship and the appropriate employment pass before starting work; requirements depend on nationality, salary and contract length. Employers usually handle much of the application process. Relocating candidates should confirm housing, insurance, tax, transport and medical arrangements, and check whether a fixed-term contract provides visa sponsorship. Local candidates should verify all terms directly with Shangri-La.
