Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology and healthcare. Hospitality work is concentrated around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa and the airport area. The culture is multicultural, orderly and fast-paced, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Lifestyle is convenient and generally safe, supported by excellent public transport, modern shopping areas, hawker centres and diverse neighbourhoods. Accommodation can be expensive, so many employees share apartments or live farther from central districts. Foreign workers normally need employer sponsorship; the company applies for the appropriate Work Permit, S Pass or Employment Pass, subject to salary, qualifications, quotas and government approval. Applicants should confirm the exact pass, housing arrangements, medical requirements and benefits before accepting an offer. Singapore has a tropical climate, with hot, humid weather and frequent rain throughout the year.
