Working in Singapore

Singapore offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, bars, tourism, retail and events, with international employers and a diverse hospitality workforce. The culture is multicultural, orderly and generally fast-paced, with English widely used at work. Lifestyle options include excellent public transport, shopping, international dining, neighbourhood food centres, parks and an active nightlife, although housing and daily expenses can be high. Foreign employees normally need a valid work pass sponsored by an employer. Hospitality roles may qualify for an S Pass or another applicable work authorisation, subject to current salary, quota and Ministry of Manpower requirements. Secure employment before relocating, and confirm accommodation, medical coverage, shift patterns and service-charge arrangements. Singapore is compact and convenient, but workers should budget carefully for rent, deposits, transport and food. Employment contracts and visa conditions should be reviewed before arrival.
