The Night Manager oversees overnight hotel operations, ensuring smooth front-office service, guest satisfaction, safety and accurate night auditing. Candidates should have several years of hotel front-office experience, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role, with strong knowledge of reservations, billing, complaint handling and emergency procedures. Fluency in English is essential; Cantonese and/or Mandarin is advantageous. The successful candidate is expected to work independently during night shifts, lead the overnight team, communicate effectively with other departments, resolve guest issues professionally and maintain Shangri-La’s service standards. Flexibility, sound judgment, attention to detail and a calm, reliable approach are important.
Shangri-La is a leading luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The group is known for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards and distinctive luxury properties under the Shangri-La, Kerry, JEN and Traders brands. Its Hong Kong portfolio includes well-established hotels serving business travellers, leisure guests, families and major events. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on guest care, professional development, teamwork and creating memorable experiences. Employees typically work in multicultural environments with structured hotel operations and opportunities for career progression across departments and international locations. The company also promotes responsible business practices, community engagement and sustainability through its corporate programmes and hotel-level initiatives.
Hong Kong is a compact international city with major opportunities in hospitality, finance, retail, technology, aviation and education. Hotel professionals can find roles in luxury properties, restaurants, events and tourism, particularly in Central, Tsim Sha Tsui, Causeway Bay and the airport area. Cantonese is valuable for daily life and many customer-facing positions, while English is widely used in business; Mandarin is also helpful. The culture combines Chinese traditions, international influences, efficient public transport, excellent food and a fast-paced urban lifestyle. Housing is expensive, so many newcomers share apartments or live in areas connected by the MTR. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored employment visa, with approval depending on qualifications, experience and the job offer. Secure the contract and visa before relocating, arrange accommodation temporarily, and budget for deposits, healthcare, transport and daily expenses.
