Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, highly connected city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, restaurants, retail, finance, technology and logistics. Hospitality workers can find roles in luxury hotels, resorts, restaurants, attractions and corporate travel, although competition is considerable. The culture is multicultural, orderly and generally respectful, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Life is safe and convenient, supported by excellent public transport, modern healthcare and abundant dining and entertainment. Housing can be expensive, particularly near central areas, so many employees share accommodation or live outside Orchard and the city centre. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, subject to eligibility and government approval. Candidates should secure a written offer and confirmed pass before relocating. Singapore has a tropical climate, with year-round heat, humidity and frequent rain.
