The Door Attendant welcomes guests, opens vehicle and hotel doors, assists with luggage, provides directions, arranges taxis and supports the Concierge and Front Office teams. The role requires a courteous, well-presented and physically capable candidate with strong communication skills, a service-minded attitude and the ability to remain calm during busy periods. Previous hotel, guest-service or customer-facing experience is preferred. Knowledge of English and Cantonese is highly advantageous in Hong Kong, while Mandarin may also be useful. The successful candidate is expected to deliver warm, discreet and efficient service, maintain excellent grooming standards, work shifts including weekends and public holidays, and represent Shangri-La professionally at all times.
Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and recognised internationally for Asian-inspired service and warm, personalised guest experiences. The group operates hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other destinations under the Shangri-La, Kerry, JEN and Traders brands. Its Hong Kong properties are known for premium accommodation, dining, events and business facilities. Employees typically work in a structured, multicultural environment with strong emphasis on guest satisfaction, grooming, teamwork, safety and professional development. Benefits vary by property and may include service charge, meals, uniforms, medical coverage, staff rates and training. A Door Attendant contributes to the important first impression of the hotel by welcoming arriving guests, assisting with transportation and luggage, and coordinating smoothly with Concierge, Bell, Front Office and Security colleagues.
Hong Kong is a dense, energetic city and island territory with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, retail, finance, technology and professional services. Hotel jobs are concentrated in Central, Admiralty, Tsim Sha Tsui, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and major resort areas. Cantonese is central to daily life, while English is widely used in business and hotels; Mandarin is increasingly valuable. The lifestyle combines excellent public transport, international dining, shopping, hiking, beaches and vibrant cultural events, though housing can be expensive and compact. Foreign professionals generally need an employment visa arranged through an approved employer, with eligibility based on qualifications, experience, a genuine job offer and market-standard pay. Dependants may usually apply for dependant visas. Before relocating, arrange accommodation, medical coverage, banking and an Octopus travel card. Hong Kong summers are hot and humid, with typhoons possible; winters are milder and generally comfortable.
