Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, technology, logistics and professional services. Hospitality jobs are concentrated on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, Lantau and major resort districts. The culture is fast-paced, international and respectful of punctuality, efficiency and family traditions; Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in business and hotels. Public transport is excellent, although housing can be expensive and space is limited. Residents enjoy excellent dining, shopping, hiking, beaches and nearby islands. Foreign nationals generally need an approved employment visa sponsored by an employer before starting work. Employers normally assess qualifications, experience and whether the role is suitable for local recruitment. Relocating candidates should budget for rent, deposits, transport and healthcare, and confirm accommodation, visa sponsorship, working hours and benefits in the employment contract.
