About the employer

Shangri-La Group is a Hong Kong-headquartered luxury hospitality company with hotels, resorts and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The group is associated with the Shangri-La, Kerry, JEN and Traders hotel brands, and is known for premium accommodation, dining, meetings and resort experiences. Its corporate functions support a large, geographically diverse business involving hotel operations, development, real estate, procurement, technology, finance and legal services. Shangri-La places emphasis on Asian hospitality, service quality, integrity and long-term relationships with guests, colleagues, owners and business partners. A corporate legal role in Hong Kong would likely work with senior management and regional or global teams, advising on disputes, contracts, governance, regulatory compliance and operational risk across multiple markets.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a compact international city and island territory with strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, legal services, technology, retail, logistics and professional consulting. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions, international influences, dense urban life and excellent food, while English is widely used in business and Cantonese is valuable socially. Lifestyle options range from high-rise city living and vibrant nightlife to beaches, hiking trails, outlying islands and efficient public transport. Housing is expensive, particularly on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon, so many professionals compare locations and commute times carefully. Foreign professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer, with approval depending on qualifications, experience, salary and the availability of a genuine local role. Applicants should arrange documents, accommodation, healthcare coverage and banking before relocation. Local tax is comparatively moderate, but professional advice is sensible for cross-border arrangements.
