Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts, and serviced residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other international markets. The group is known for refined service, distinctive destinations, and its welcoming “Shangri-La” guest experience. Its properties typically offer accommodation, restaurants, banqueting, wellness facilities, and business services, creating opportunities across hotel operations and corporate functions. In Indonesia, Shangri-La has established a presence in major tourism and business locations, where employees work in multicultural teams and serve both domestic and international guests. The company generally emphasizes professionalism, service excellence, staff development, operational standards, and guest satisfaction.
Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities across Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumatra, Sulawesi, and other islands. Bali has the largest tourism market, with jobs in resorts, restaurants, finance, wellness, and guest services; Jakarta and Surabaya provide stronger corporate and city-hotel opportunities. Indonesian workplace culture values respect, teamwork, relationship-building, and awareness of local customs. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to beaches, nature, and comparatively relaxed island communities. Housing and transport costs vary considerably, with Bali tourist areas often more expensive than other regions. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and KITAS; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Before relocating, confirm the exact duty station, accommodation, medical cover, taxes, relocation assistance, and permit arrangements with Shangri-La. Learning basic Indonesian is highly beneficial for daily life and workplace integration.
