Working in Philippines

The Philippines offers hospitality, engineering, maintenance and resort opportunities in Metro Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, Bohol and other tourism areas. Workplaces are generally multicultural, while Filipino culture values warmth, teamwork, respect for seniority and strong family connections. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living to relaxed coastal communities, with affordable food, tropical weather and extensive beaches, although transport and seasonal weather can be challenging. Filipino citizens can work without a visa. Foreign applicants normally need employer sponsorship, an Alien Employment Permit and an appropriate work visa, commonly a 9(g) pre-arranged employee visa; requirements should be confirmed with the Philippine Bureau of Immigration. Relocating candidates should budget for housing, healthcare, transportation and document processing, and verify the employer’s accommodation, meals, insurance and relocation support before accepting an offer.
