Candidates should have relevant hotel, security or disciplined-services experience, good observation and communication skills, physical fitness, integrity and a calm approach under pressure. A valid Hong Kong security personnel permit or the ability to obtain one is normally required. Applicants should be customer-focused, professionally presented, willing to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends and public holidays, and able to communicate in English and preferably Cantonese or Mandarin.
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a luxury hospitality group headquartered in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and other international markets. The group is known for Asian-inspired hospitality, personalized guest service and high standards in accommodation, dining, meetings and wellness. Its Hong Kong properties serve business and leisure travelers and typically offer structured operating procedures, employee training and opportunities for progression within the hotel and wider group. Security teams work closely with front office, engineering, housekeeping and management to maintain a safe, welcoming environment. Benefits and working conditions vary by property and position, but may include staff meals, medical coverage, uniforms, training and hotel-related privileges.
Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, retail, finance, logistics, technology and professional services. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences; English is widely used in business, while Cantonese is valuable for daily life and customer-facing work. The lifestyle is energetic, convenient and highly urban, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, hiking and nearby beaches, although housing is expensive and space is limited. Most foreign employees need an employment visa sponsored by a local company under the General Employment Policy; applicants generally need a confirmed offer, suitable qualifications or experience and proof that the role cannot easily be filled locally. Employers usually guide the application. Before relocating, budget for accommodation deposits, healthcare, transport and daily expenses, and verify contract terms, visa sponsorship and benefits.
