The group has a broad international presence across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other destinations, and is known for Asian-inspired hospitality, attentive service and strong guest relationships. Its business covers luxury and upscale accommodation, restaurants, bars, wellness facilities, meetings and events. Corporate roles in Hong Kong support brand development, commercial strategy, operations, technology and regional functions. Shangri-La places emphasis on service culture, professional development and maintaining consistent standards while adapting its brands to local markets.
Hong Kong is a compact international city made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, with excellent transport and extensive career opportunities in hospitality, finance, technology, retail, aviation and professional services. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with strong international influences; dining, festivals, temples, arts and shopping are central to daily life. Lifestyle options range from busy urban neighbourhoods and vibrant nightlife to beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Housing is convenient but expensive, so many newcomers share apartments or live in areas outside the central districts. Foreign professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong employer, with qualifications and a confirmed job offer usually required. Dependants may apply to join eligible visa holders. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, healthcare coverage, banking and a local identity card after approval. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in business and hospitality.
