Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, marketing, finance, technology and international business. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, organised and fast-paced, with a strong emphasis on punctuality, courtesy and performance. Lifestyle highlights include excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, arts, beaches and easy regional travel. Housing and daily expenses can be high, especially near central districts, although public transport is efficient and reliable. Foreign employees generally need employer-sponsored work authorisation, such as an Employment Pass for professional roles or an S Pass where applicable; approval depends on salary, qualifications, experience and government criteria. Candidates should secure an offer before relocating, confirm visa eligibility, budget for accommodation and healthcare, and check tax and employment requirements with the employer.
