Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotel finance, accounting, reservations, food and beverage, engineering, wellness and resort operations, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak. Island life in places such as Langkawi, Penang, Perhentian and Redang is generally relaxed, multicultural and strongly connected to tourism, beaches and outdoor activities. Malay, English and Mandarin or other Chinese languages are commonly heard, while local food reflects Malay, Chinese and Indian influences. Costs vary: Penang and Langkawi can be moderate, although beachfront housing may be expensive during peak seasons. Employers normally arrange or support the Employment Pass for eligible foreign professionals; approval depends on the role, salary and company sponsorship. Candidates should confirm visa, accommodation, insurance and tax arrangements before relocating. Malaysia has warm weather year-round, with monsoon conditions differing between the west and east coasts.
