The Sales Manager, RSR & GSH is responsible for driving room, group, corporate and leisure business for Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa and Golden Sands Resort in Penang. Requirements typically include a diploma or degree in hospitality, tourism, business or a related field, along with several years of hotel sales experience and a strong network of travel partners, corporate clients and event planners. The candidate should understand local and international markets, manage accounts, conduct sales calls and presentations, meet revenue targets and coordinate effectively with revenue, reservations and operational teams. Strong communication, negotiation, presentation and relationship-building skills are expected, together with flexibility to travel and work in a competitive resort environment.
Shangri-La Group is a luxury hospitality company founded in Hong Kong and recognized for its Asian-inspired service and warm guest experiences. The group operates hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international destinations under brands including Shangri-La, Kerry Hotels, JEN by Shangri-La and Traders. In Malaysia, Shangri-La properties include urban hotels and beach resorts, offering accommodation, restaurants, meetings, weddings, wellness facilities and leisure activities. The company places strong emphasis on service excellence, employee development, cultural awareness and personalized hospitality. This role supports two established Penang resorts, making it particularly relevant to candidates experienced in resort sales, destination marketing, corporate accounts, group travel and tourism partnerships.
Malaysia offers strong hospitality opportunities on Penang, Langkawi, Sabah’s islands and the resort coast of Terengganu, with vacancies in hotels, restaurants, tourism sales, events, wellness and guest services. Penang combines heritage streets, food culture and a growing business market, while Langkawi provides a slower beach lifestyle, outdoor activities and resort-focused employment. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in tourism workplaces. Living costs vary: Penang is generally more affordable than Kuala Lumpur, while island accommodation can be seasonal and limited. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with approval and documentation handled through the company. Candidates should confirm salary, housing, transport, medical coverage and relocation support before accepting an offer. Malaysia’s tropical climate, excellent food and welcoming communities make it attractive, although humidity, traffic and peak-season workloads should be expected.
