About the employer

Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and recognised for its hotels, resorts and distinctive Asian-inspired service. The group operates properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international destinations under brands including Shangri-La, Kerry Hotels, JEN and Traders. Its Hong Kong hotels serve business and leisure travellers with accommodation, restaurants, event facilities, wellness services and personalised guest experiences. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on genuine hospitality, professional standards, teamwork and employee development. Benefits for eligible employees may include staff meals, training, medical coverage, service-related incentives and discounted stays, although arrangements vary by property and employment contract.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers a busy international lifestyle, strong public transport and varied opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, technology and tourism. Hospitality jobs are concentrated in Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and major resort areas, with English widely used in hotels alongside Cantonese and increasingly Mandarin. The culture combines Chinese traditions, festivals and food with a highly global business environment. Living costs, especially rent, are high, though staff accommodation or housing support may be available for some hotel roles. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored work visa before starting employment; the employer normally submits the application and proves the role and candidate’s suitability. New arrivals should budget for deposits, transport and healthcare, and verify contract terms, accommodation, working hours and visa sponsorship before relocating.
