The group is known for personalised service, high accommodation standards and its distinctive Asian-inspired approach to hospitality. Shangri-La properties in Malaysia include urban hotels and resort destinations, offering careers across rooms, food and beverage, wellness, engineering, finance and human resources. The company places strong emphasis on guest satisfaction, employee development, service culture and operational excellence. A Human Resources Manager typically supports the full employee lifecycle while helping maintain a positive workplace and consistent brand standards. Benefits may include accommodation or meals at resort locations, staff rates, training opportunities, medical coverage and other allowances, depending on the property and employment package.

Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers varied hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah, Sarawak and coastal resort areas. Langkawi is the country’s best-known island destination, with a relaxed lifestyle, beaches, water activities and strong demand for hotel, restaurant, spa and guest-services professionals. Penang combines heritage, excellent food and a lively urban culture, while Sabah and Sarawak offer nature-based tourism and resort work. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences; English is widely used in international hotels, although Malay is the national language. Living costs are generally moderate, rising in central Kuala Lumpur and popular resort areas. Foreign nationals normally require an Employment Pass sponsored by their employer, with approval handled through Malaysian immigration authorities. Candidates should confirm visa eligibility, accommodation, transport, insurance and tax arrangements before relocating. Island locations may have fewer services but usually provide a slower, outdoor-focused lifestyle.
