Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city-state and a major regional centre for banking, wealth management, technology, logistics and professional services. Job opportunities are strongest in finance, compliance, risk, data, technology, healthcare, engineering and regional headquarters functions. The culture is multicultural and generally efficient, polite and work-focused, with English widely used in business. Life is convenient, safe and urban, offering excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, parks and easy regional travel. Housing can be expensive, particularly near the central business district, while public transport makes commuting practical. Foreign professionals usually need an employment pass sponsored by an eligible employer; approval depends on salary, qualifications and government criteria. Families may explore dependant passes and international schools. New arrivals should budget for rent, deposits, healthcare, transport and daily expenses, and check current Ministry of Manpower requirements before relocating.
