The Senior Sales Executive is expected to drive new business, manage customer relationships and achieve agreed sales targets for UOB’s banking products and services. Requirements typically include a diploma or degree, relevant sales experience, strong communication and negotiation skills, customer-focused behaviour and confidence using digital sales and CRM tools. Experience in banking, consumer finance, cards or related financial services is advantageous. The successful candidate should be target-driven, professionally presented, resilient and comfortable developing leads through direct outreach, referrals and market activity. Knowledge of the Penang market and the ability to work independently while meeting compliance and responsible-selling standards will also be important.
United Overseas Bank (UOB) is a major Singapore-headquartered bank with operations across Southeast Asia and other international markets. In Malaysia, UOB provides personal and commercial banking, credit cards, wealth management, business banking and financial services to individuals, companies and institutions. The bank is recognised for its regional network, relationship-led approach and focus on helping customers manage everyday finances, grow businesses and build long-term wealth. Following its expansion of the Citigroup consumer banking business in Malaysia, UOB has continued developing its customer base, products and distribution capabilities. Employees generally work in a structured, regulated environment where customer service, sales performance, ethical conduct, risk awareness and collaboration are important. Career opportunities may include branch banking, sales, relationship management, operations, technology, risk and corporate functions.
The role is based around Jalan Burma in George Town, Penang Island, a well-connected Malaysian hub with opportunities in banking, shared services, tourism, technology, manufacturing and international business. Penang combines a multicultural heritage, excellent food scene and UNESCO-listed George Town with beaches, hospitals, shopping and a generally relaxed lifestyle. English is widely used in business, while Malay, Mandarin and other languages are valuable in customer-facing roles. Housing and daily costs are often lower than Kuala Lumpur, although central neighbourhoods and popular coastal areas can be more expensive. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship for the appropriate Employment Pass before starting work; requirements depend on salary, qualifications and nationality. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, transport, healthcare coverage and local banking, and confirm visa details with UOB and Malaysian authorities.
