The Credit Review Analyst will independently assess credit proposals and existing exposures for emerging enterprise clients, ensuring decisions comply with UOB’s credit policies, risk appetite and regulatory requirements. The role typically requires a degree in finance, economics, accounting or a related discipline, together with substantial experience in commercial credit analysis, corporate banking or risk management. Candidates should understand financial statements, cash-flow analysis, collateral, industry risks and credit documentation. Strong analytical, writing and communication skills are expected, along with sound judgment, attention to detail and the ability to challenge business recommendations professionally. Experience covering Malaysian businesses and knowledge of local banking regulations would be advantageous.
UOB, or United Overseas Bank, is a major Singapore-based bank with operations across Southeast Asia, including Malaysia. Founded in 1935, the group provides retail and commercial banking, corporate banking, wealth management, investment banking and treasury services to individuals, businesses and institutions. UOB Malaysia serves consumers, small and medium-sized enterprises, large corporations and multinational companies through branches and digital channels. Following its acquisition of Citigroup’s consumer banking business in Malaysia and other regional markets, UOB has expanded its customer base and product reach. The bank is known for its regional network, relationship-led approach and emphasis on responsible banking, risk management and digital innovation. Its Kuala Lumpur roles generally offer exposure to cross-border banking, varied industries and Southeast Asian markets.
Malaysia offers banking and finance opportunities mainly in Kuala Lumpur, while Penang and Johor also have growing commercial, technology and shared-services sectors. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and international influences; English is widely used in professional workplaces. Kuala Lumpur provides modern housing, healthcare, public transport, shopping and diverse food, although traffic and humidity can be challenging. Living costs are generally lower than in Singapore, but central accommodation can be expensive. Foreign professionals normally need an employment pass sponsored by their employer, and approval depends on the role, qualifications and applicable salary thresholds. Dependants may require separate passes. Relocation usually involves securing an offer, arranging immigration approval, registering locally and obtaining suitable health insurance. Malaysia’s islands, beaches and highlands offer easy weekend travel, but this job is based in the Kuala Lumpur city area rather than on an island.
