Working in Bahrain

Bahrain is a compact Gulf island country with a diverse economy centered on logistics, financial services, aviation, retail, hospitality, technology and energy. Manama offers the widest range of professional opportunities, including roles with multinational companies such as DHL. The culture combines traditional Bahraini values with a large expatriate community, and English is commonly used in business. Lifestyle is generally convenient, with modern housing, restaurants, shopping malls, beaches and an active social scene. Summers are extremely hot, while winters are more comfortable. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work visa and residence permit; employers typically arrange the process after hiring. New arrivals should confirm accommodation, medical insurance, transport and dependent-visa arrangements before relocating. Bahrain has no personal income tax on salaries, although living costs vary significantly by neighborhood and housing choice.
