About the employer

Qantas Ground Services Pty Limited is part of the Qantas Group and provides airport ground-handling services for Qantas and other airline customers. Its teams help manage aircraft turnarounds, baggage, cargo, ramp operations, passenger assistance and related airport services. The company operates in a safety-critical environment where careful procedures, teamwork and punctuality are essential. As a major Australian aviation employer, Qantas Ground Services offers structured training, operational experience and opportunities to progress into specialist ground operations, leadership, airport services and broader airline roles. Work is usually rostered around aircraft schedules, so employees should expect varied hours, outdoor duties and busy periods during holidays and peak travel seasons. Sydney Airport employees also work within strict security, safety and airside-access requirements.

Working in Australia

Australia offers employment opportunities across aviation, logistics, tourism, healthcare, construction, technology, education and professional services. Its culture is generally informal, multicultural and outdoors-oriented, with strong emphasis on workplace safety, fairness and work-life balance. Lifestyle varies from busy, expensive Sydney and Melbourne to quieter regional cities, coastal towns and tropical northern areas. Rent and transport costs can be significant in major cities, so budgeting is important. Skilled migrants may use employer-sponsored, skilled, graduate or working-holiday visa pathways, depending on nationality, occupation, qualifications and age. Airport roles often require unrestricted work rights, security screening and reliable transport for shift work; employers do not always sponsor entry-level positions. Before relocating, check visa rules through the Australian Department of Home Affairs, arrange suitable health insurance, prepare for Australian workplace requirements and research local housing, commuting options and climate.
