Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, retail, technology, manufacturing and professional services. Kuala Lumpur is a major employment centre, while islands and coastal destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, Redang and parts of Sabah attract hospitality workers. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions reflected in food, festivals, languages and daily life. The lifestyle is generally affordable compared with many international cities, although central Kuala Lumpur rents can be higher. Malaysia has tropical weather, excellent food, modern shopping areas and easy access to beaches and nature. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work permit or Employment Pass, and should not begin work before approval. Employers commonly assist with documentation, but candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, meals, transport, insurance and visa conditions before relocating. A valid passport, medical checks and authenticated employment documents may be required.
